MY APPROACH

I’m a photographer by trade and an artist by intent. I use photography to help people and organisations translate their stories into images with meaning and purpose.

My work is defined by strong, layered imagery with depth and emotion, creating photographs that hold attention and reveal more over time.

With 33 years behind the lens, I bring a trained eye, a disciplined understanding of the brief, and the ability to identify opportunities and create images clients may not have thought to ask for.

My work spans portraiture, architecture and selected documentary projects, with a strong focus on presence, dignity and human relationships.

I see photography as a quiet but powerful tool for communication and connection. I’m interested in how photography can reveal the interconnectedness of people, place and ecology.

MY STORY

My early fascination with architecture was shaped by discovering the work of Antonio Gaudí and by a deep inspiration from the natural world. His ability to draw on nature’s forms, geometry and colour to create expressive yet functional spaces revealed to me that structure and beauty can coexist. That sense of harmony continues to inform how I see and photograph the world.

Although I initially studied engineering with the intention of becoming an architect, photography became my natural creative outlet. Growing up surrounded by images made by my father, photojournalist John Casamento, I developed an instinctive understanding of photography long before I understood it intellectually. Time spent in newspaper darkrooms as a child left a lasting imprint.

As my career developed, I discovered that photography offered a unique form of access. The camera became a way of entering environments and moments I would not otherwise encounter, from designed spaces and cultural settings to private homes and remote landscapes. Each situation calls for attentiveness, restraint and respect.

I value the meditative process of working through the lens, seeking visual balance and clarity. Technology is always secondary to connection. The strongest images emerge when technique and intuition align, and the camera becomes an extension of attention rather than an interruption.
